In the following sections we will give you a few pointers on how you can upload your videos in the best possible quality in working-dog.eu.
generals:
The less you edit the video and are converting, the higher is its quality. However, at the same time its file size could be very large. You must therefore consider how far you compress the video. Different compression rates and the resulting quality and file size you get through the selection of the different container formats and settings. A videos size with a resolution of 640x480 pixel is between 5MB and 10MB about one minute duration. Also keep in mind that it may take, depending on your internet connection , until a video has finished uploading. For files over 30MB size you should use our Java upload service.
Background music:
We point out that it is explicitly not allowed to upload videos with copyrighted music on working-dog.eu, since this current law is violated. However, you must deposit with Royalty Free Music Videos. A large selection you'll find for example on www.jamendo.com.
resolution:
The higher the resolution, the better is usually the quality. Especially in sports, with fast movements, it makes itself felt. However, it is not possible from a low quality by increasing the resolution to create a better quality because the image would only be stretched. We recommend you a minimum resolution of 640x480 pixels. With this resolution of your videos they can be played in HD with our players. If they have smarter resolutions, they can only playes in SD with our players.
bit rate:
The bit rate is determined by the codec. It makes sense not to change the value of the output file to ensure no loss of quality in terms of bitrate.
frame rate:
As the bit rate, the frame rate should not be changed. The frame rate indicates the number of frames per second. If you change this value, the video can falter/jerk as single images will be deleted or added.
codec:
video: If you have a choice, you should use your videos with H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 codec. Despite the small size videos still have a good quality.
audio: We recommend you use MP3 or AAC as the codec, since this also mean low loss of quality at small file sizes.
container format:
Our video player supports best the WMV container format. However, FLV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and AVI videos can be used good with our player.
aspect ratio:
No matter what aspect ratio (usually 4:3 or 16:9) you've recorded the video, do not change it. A transformation (for example, by using a "resizing filter") impacts to visible distortions. You should also attach any "black bars" on the video so that it will then be displayed as 16:9 instead of 4:3 video. The video player can not recognize this, and the film is therefore also known as 4:3 video display, which has top and bottom still a black bar.

Example:
This happens when you cover up parts of a 4:3-videos with bars to fit into a 16:9 player:
